No need to travel far if you want to try white water rafting for the first time. Sure, there’s Cagayan de Oro, Chico River, and Davao for white water rafting. But did you know that in Laguna, you can also paddle and experience rafting?
Yes, that’s right. Just two-three hours away from Manila (depending on the traffic) is Magdalena, Laguna. From Manila, aboard a chartered van, Explore8 Travel brought a bunch of thrill-seekers to try this new weekend getaway in Laguna.
History blends well in nature in this quaint town of Magdalena. We visited the centuries-old Magdalena Church where the remnants of the stained bolo and hut of General Emilio Jacinto are placed.
After a short town tour, guests learned the do’s and don’ts in rafting. The Magdalena-Majayjay River is safe for beginners. It’s easy to paddle while passing through the rural and natural landscape of the towns.
River guides demonstrated the proper way of holding the paddle and the manner of paddling that needs to be done. In a raft, there are two river guides plus six guests.
Even a kid as young as 8 years old can join the rafting.
The rafting lasted for 1.5 hours.
The climax of the rafting was the slide along the dam. Guests then enjoyed swimming and tubing afterwards.
A picnic lunch is also included in this package. Guests went to shop for slippers in Liliw after lunch and had snacks as well at Chef Mau’s Restaurant. All of these are included in Explore8 Travel’s Viaje Laguna Rafting Tour.
You may choose another activity in the afternoon like swimming at Pagsanjan Falls or Majajay Falls or learn vegetable farming at Costales Farm.
